June gas futures moved a few cents higher to close just under $2.60 per million Btu Friday as forecasts are calling for summer like weather to push cooling demand higher.
"Summer is coming," warns Gelber & Associates analyst Danial Myers. "The market will get its first taste of summer with a toasty Memorial Day weekend on tap for many parts of the South and East. Record-breaking temperatures will accompany this heat wave when it peaks in the middle of the next week, taking areas of the Mid-Atlantic above 90° and posting 100° temps farther south."
