A magnitude 3.7 earthquake Sunday evening near in Grady County, Oklahoma, has led to the shutdown of a well completion operation. A spokesman for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission told Energy Intelligence that Roan Resources is the operator of the disposal well. "The shutdown of the operation is indefinite, pending further investigation and data review," the spokesman said. The Oklahoma Geological Survey said the quake was near Bridge Creek about 20 miles to the southwest of Oklahoma City. Thousands of earthquakes have been recorded in Oklahoma in recent years, with many linked to the underground injection of wastewater from oil and natural gas production. Scientists have also linked earthquakes in Kansas, Texas and other states to wastewater injection.
