February gas futures jumped 6.8% to the mid-$3.40s per million Btu as the market eyes the development of a polar vortex in February, but there is uncertainty about the forecasts.

"For the last four consecutive days, prices have rallied into major resistance around the 200-day moving average for February gas only to find significant selling and that behavior continued late last night," an EcomEnergy analyst said Tuesday.
