US natural gas fell about a half of a penny Friday to close in the upper $3-teens per million Btu as the bitter cold comes to and end and warmer weather moves back in.

“A trend to above-average temperatures through the end of January has pointed to a loosening in the market and a possible return to prompt prices below $3,” Gelber & Associates analyst Daniel Myers said Friday. "This week’s cold has been even more powerful than expected, however , and has kept the pressure on prices as production struggles to completely recover in January and storage is further depleted.”
