Williams has joined forces with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) to form a $3.8 billion joint venture in the Marcellus and Utica Shales.

The JV will include Williams’ Ohio Valley Midstream system and Utica East Ohio (UEO) midstream system. CPPIB will invest approximately $1.34 billion for a 35% ownership stake in the venture. Williams will retain 65% ownership, will operate the combined business, and will consolidate the financial results of the JV in Williams’ financial statements. Along with the signing of the strategic partnership with CPPIB, Williams bought the remaining 38% stake in UEO from Momentum Midstream and will take over operatorship.
