Geologic and geotechnical study of the marbled limestone of Al Hoceima's region (Morocco): exploitation perspectives and environmental impact

The North of Morocco is the least developed area of the country. The rarity of natural resources is one of the reasons for this situation. The exploitations of rare economic resources in this area is often confronted with the problem of adequate reserves and quality of the material The exploitation of marble limestone in the Al Hoceima's region illustrates these difficulties. This paper, in addition to the geotechnical valorisation of this material, aims at presenting a better understanding of the geology and the mode of exploitation of these limestones. There is also the discussion of the environmental issues.
