Mexico leader accuses LPG retailers of price fxing

Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has accused domestic LPG distributors of fxing retail prices during the Covid-19 pandemic. Mexico’s average retail LPG price rose to 10.40 pesos/litre ($1.80/USG) on 15 August, up by 1pc from Ps10.28/l on 31 July, and 10pc higher than a 2020 low of Ps9.39/l on 15 April. Yet the gains are in line with international LPG price moves. The price of US Gulf coast propane deliveries to Mexico’s east coast increased by 14pc to Ps3.52/l between 15 April and 15 August, Argus assessments show.
