She spent the first five years of her nursing career working on an acute assessment ward for older people experiencing functional mental illness. She worked as a community mental health nurse in Norfolk for three years, caring for people with dementia. Her first role as a specialist dementia Admiral Nurse was in a care home, and Ms Woodcock now works on Dementia UK's Admiral Nurse dementia helpline.
