Export wood pellet mill coming to New Brunswick;biorefinery planned for GA,another breaks ground in OR

This month,plans were announced for an export wood pellet mill in New Brunswick which will serve European customers. The facility will be built at the site of a long-closed paper mill. In Georgia,plans were revealed for a wood-based biorefinery. Further,construction began on a biorefinery in Oregon. North American projects Northern Energy Solutions will build a 275,000 ton/yr export wood pellet mill in Miramichi,NB,at the site of a shuttered UPM kraft mill. The pellet mill is scheduled to open in 2021 with its product destined for Europe. As estimated 550,000 green tons/yr of wood will be required to run the facility. Company reps said pulp-grade roundwood will be used in their process,as well as sawmill residuals.
