Noise from Small Airport Found to Have No Impact on Mental Health

A study from Queen's University Belfast concluded that the noise environment around a local small airport has little influence on the mental health of residents living nearby. Researchers conducted a cross-sectional study of 198,532 adults living in Belfast, United Kingdom, assessed exposure to aircraft noise by linking census records with modeled noise contours around George Best Belfast City Airport, and estimated associations between noise and poor mental health using multiple logistic regression, adjusting for demographic characteristics, socio-economic status, and comorbidity (the simultaneous presence of two chronic diseases or conditions' in an individual).
