摘要

Using the Taguchi's method assisted design of experiments approach, this study presents systematic optimization of deep cryogenic treatment conditions for the wear behaviour of medical titanium alloy UNS R56400 (Ti6Al4V). In addition to different soaking durations and tempering temperatures, three pin-on-disk wear test variables i. e. sliding speed, contact pressure, and sliding time were used to conduct the tests. Pin-on-disk tribo-testing setup, under dry sliding wear conditions, is employed to slide Ti6Al4V against En31 steel in accordance with ASTM G99 standard. Experimentally found results were transformed to signal-to-noise ratios and results pertaining to the influence of controlled variables were statistically analyzed and optimized using ANOVA and F-test. Statistically optimized results are verified experimentally.
