With a boost from natural gas, hydrogen could become a key part of the US energy mix, according to a new study-but it may not be the silver bullet in the fight to mitigate climate change.BloombergNEF乫s(BNEF)new Hydrogen Economy Outlook finds that reneweable hydrogen could be deployed in the decades ahead to cut up to 34% of global greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels and other industrial uses at a manageable cost(NGW Jan.6乫20).However,the authors stressed this scenario will only be possible if policies are put in place to help scale up hydrogen technology and drive down costs.
