Alabama Gas Additions OK'd

State regulators have given Alabama Power Co. the OK to add more than 2 gigawatts of gas-fired power generation to its portfolio. The utility, which gets almost half of its power from coal-fired plants, said the gas units are needed to make sure there is a reliable power supply for next winter.
