The 29-story Hilton Garden Inn NYC Financial Center/ Manhattan Downtown hotel has 107,000 square feet of floor space. To maximize the floor and area ratio and the number of guest rooms, Gene Kaufman Architect PC's design incorporates two features. First, the building envelope is thin. Attached to metal studs, metal composite material (MCM) and a rainscreen attachment system are 1 1/2 inches thick. Second, the building cantilevers over another building on the north side at the 10th floor. This increased the number of guest rooms at upper floors.
