Glassy Ceramic Glazes for the Glass Industry-Part I

Glass is a distinct field of study. Ceramics on the other hand is also a vast field of investigations. Both have a variety of applications for human consumption. Glass is an important component in glazes for making ceramic products that not only cover the biscuit-fired ceramic-wares,but also adds to them the required colour and design from beautification point of view. In this article,the importance of ceramic glazes is described briefly. Different raw materials are used for various purposes that are both chemical and physical. Before elaborating on different compositions,some details are given here in the Part-I of the article on ceramic chemistry and glaze preparation techniques.
