"Trust No Man Beyond His Interest". By this rule Charles II, sometime fugitive, exile and beggar, survived to become King of a partially united Kingdom. He recognized that a person's interest is the reason for his doing whatever he does but to be successful at what he does a person must also be suitable for it and for the environment in which he does it. If he is not suitable for the task or the environment, he is unlikely to be happy or successful. All environments, natural or man-made, cull those who are not suitable for them.
