Measuring a magnetic field by applying electric current to a wire in a magnetic field for a short duration and recording the resulting travelling wave is referred to as the pulsed wire method. This technique is beneficial when other methods for acquiring magnetic field data are not feasible, e.g. small aperture limit of a Hall probe to measure an insertion device, or it can be used as a complement to other techniques. Data collected during pulsed wire measurements require corrections due to dispersion of the travelling wave and averaging effects of the current pulse duration. A flexible method for correcting dispersion has been developed using all pass digital filtering techniques and deconvolution is used to correct for pulse width averaging. Implementing the correction method is described along with the results of measuring a reference magnet and a 2.4-meter long undulator.
