GRAND RAPIDS,Mich.-Michigan is making steady progress toward achieving primary enforcement authority,or primacy,in Underground Injection Control,according to Department of Environment,Great Lakes & Energy(EGLE),Oil,Gas & Minerals Division(OGMD)Director Adam Wygant,who provided an update on OGMD regulatory activities as part of the Sept.19 Michigan Association of Professional Landmen(MAPL)Annual Fall Seminar at The B.O.B.in Grand Rapids.Wygant,who succeeded longtime OGMD Director Hal Fitch earlier this year,told the 32 MAPL members in attendance that Michigan is one of the only states in the nation that does not have primacy and said Michigan's enhanced oil recovery potential is one of the most important reasons his agency chose to work with stakeholder groups and the U.S.EPA to pursue UIC primacy.
