The Tallah Tank (Kolkata, India) previously had linings that were costly, requiring high film thickness applied in multiple coats, and contained volatile organic compounds. This article discusses recent linings applied to the Tallah Tank. Previously, the Tallah Tank was coated with an epoxy mortar of 4 mm thickness. A solventless food-grade epoxy system was selected as the coating system, with reduced thickness, in part to reduce the tank load on supports that are more than 100 years old. This article presents the solvent-free lining selected, the various physio-chemical parameters considered, the application process, and the advantages of selecting this type of lining.
