The characteristics of a hot-rolled near beta titanium alloy Ti-7333 were investigated, including the micro-texture components, dynamic recrystallization (DRX) behavior and variant selection (VS) of alpha phase. It is found that the microstructure and texture inhomogeneity exist, and the dominant deformation texture is confirmed as the a(bcc)-fiber component of {112} '110'. Two different mechanisms, discontinuous dynamic recrystallization (DDRX) and continuous dynamic recrystallization (CDRX), dominate the DRX process. Various patterns of dislocations are observed in beta matrix, including dislocation tangles, dislocation arrays and dislocation nets. a variants with an acicular morphology are observed in beta matrix and hold the Burgers orientation relationship (BOR) with respect to beta matrix. Dislocations have a significant selection effect on a variants, which accounts for the various angled combinations of alpha variants.
