Technifast provides innovative fixings to assist powerboat world-record attempt

Corby-based Technifast Ltd (www.technifast.co.uk), a manufacturer of specialist engineering components and precision-engineered fasteners (Stand P26), is currently manufacturing fixings and inserts to secure large inflatable tubes to the outside of Team Britannia's boat Excalibur, as it prepares for a world-record attempt to become the fastest powerboat to circumnavigate the globe. Fixings and inserts have been specifically developed to allow the fitting of the two white tubes, which each weigh around 250kg, to the side of the boat, without large numbers of people having to be involved. This is important, because if either tube is damaged during the 23,000 nautical-mile record attempt, it will have to be replaced without putting the vessel into a dry-dock.
