摘要

The EPA announced on 09/22/09 that it will, for the first time, mandatorily collect nationwide data on GHG emissions under a new reporting system to begin on 1/1/10. EPA's new regulation, Final Mandatory Reporting of Greenhouse Gases Rule, signed by EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, on the same day, requires reporting of GHG emissions from large sources and suppliers in the U.S., in order "to collect accurate and timely emissions data to inform future policy decisions." The rule does not require control or reduction of GHGs; rather it requires sources above certain threshold levels to monitor and report emissions. It does not apply to homeowners, small businesses, schools, or smaller commercial establishments.
