Energy Bar Association's Washington D.C. Conference Features Panels on Industry Changes and How Lawyers Can Navigate Them

The spring meeting of the Energy Bar Association (EBA), held on May 5-6 in Washington D.C., provided a panorama of an industry - and its attendant squadrons of lawyers - once again managing through change and challenge. While there was no particular overarching theme, there were some high-profile panels examining the issues now emerging from a tsunami of business and regulatory upheaval. In addition, the conference's lunch-hour speakers presented perspectives from contrasting stages in their current careers: on the first day, new FERC Commissioner Collette Honorable, just four months into her appointment, took a graceful introductory bow before EBA; on Day 2, PJM CEO Terry Boston, in his final year at the helm, recounted how that RTO and its participants have coped with dramatic twists in Middle Atlantic weather over the last several years, as well as how the generation mix is shifting.
