Third Quarter 2010 Imports of Liquefied Natural Gas Are Down, Says Department of Energy; Sources Include Peru; Re-Exports Total 9.5 Bcf

The U.S. imported 86.5 Bcf of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the third quarter (3Q) of 2010, or 22% less than the 110.9 Bcf imported in the second quarter, according to the U.S. Energy Department's Office of Fossil Energy (OFE). The year-to-date total of 336.6 Bcf is likewise lower, lagging the 353.0 Bcf imported in the first nine months of 2009.
