Royal Dutch Shell Sells Appalachia Shale Assets to National Fuel for $541 Million

On May 4, Royal Dutch Shell announced it had reached an agreement with National Fuel Gas Co. to sell its Appalachia shale gas assets for $541 million. The effective date of the transaction is Jan. 1, 2020. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions. The transaction is intended to be paid in cash, but National Fuel has the option of paying up to $150 million of the purchase price in stock.
