(2) What teaching procedures can produce a transfer of stimulus control from a supplemental prompt to the motivating operation (MO) without explicit training? Design: The authors used an alternating treatments design to compare mand training and DTT embedded within a multiplebaseline across participants design. Allocation: Participants were selected for inclusion in the study because they did not have an independent mand repertoire. Both participants experienced the baseline, mand training, DTT, generalizafion, and maintenance conditions. The authors described in some detail how preferred items were assigned to training conditions, but it is not clear whether these items were counterbalanced across participants in terms of preference level. The authors did not describe how participants were assigned to tiers of the multiple baseline design.
