Altana acquires Schmid Rhyner

On 2 March 2020,Altana AG announced that it had completed the purchase of Schmid Rhyner AG from the Conzzeta Group.The business will be absorbed into Altana's Actega division,which specialises in packaging and coatings solutions,mainly for consumer-oriented sectors.Schmid Rhyner reported revenue for full-year 2018 at about €50 M,derived mainly from sales of products for print finishing,notably ultraviolet-and water-based primers,overprint coatings and laminating adhesives.The company has been a pioneer of digital UV varnishing technology in recent years,creating a ne dimension of tactile effects for the printing and packaging sectors.Its main factory is at Adliswil(10 km south of Zurich,Switzerland)and it has a US subsidiary,based at Marlton,New Jersey(50 km south of Trenton).The company was founded in 1880.It was acquired by the Conzzeta conglomerate in March 1987 and it now has about 80 employees.
