THERE'S a "raging debate" in the hog sector right now as to whether the industry is current or not, according to Steve Meyer, economist for Kerns & Associates. He believes there is a backlog of 1.4 million hogs and that the number will swell to nearly 3 million by the end of the year — the aftershocks of the coronavirus pandemic.
