The entire glass manufacturing industry will need to undergo the biggest technological change since its inception in order to comply with the Paris Agreement on climate change, and to meet the demand for carbon free manufactured products coming from its customers. Being forced to move away from fossil fuel towards alternative energy sources will have a huge impact on technologies, operations and finances. All stakeholders involved in the industry have a responsibility to make sure the industry survives, and in that respect, all options need to be investigated. Bearing in mind, that the ultimate objective is to find the most cost-effective and cost-efficient way of melting glass without emitting CO2.
