Concept Aluminum goes solar

Concept Aluminum has completed a 192-panel solar array on the roof of its Surrey, B.C., facility.AII power needed for the facility will be provided by the sun on a grid-tied solar panel system. During the summer months, the panels will produce in excess of what the plant needs and the extra power will flow out into the grid, causing Concept's meter to roll backwards and powering the buildings around it. During the winter the B.C. hydro grid will top up any shortcomings in power and over the entire year the company anticipates net zero for hydro charges. In its first week of operation, the system produced over 850 kilowatt hours of clean electricity.
