Global steel production continued to rise inFebruary, with capacity closures in Chinanot enough to temper the country’s officialoutput and India overtaking Japan as thesecond-largest producer, according to WorldSteel Association statistics. China producedan estimated 64.9 million mt of crude steel inFebruary, an increase of 5.9% compared toFebruary 2017. Considering January outputwas flat year on year, the supply will likelyconcern the market at a time when thedemand picture appears less strong in China.
