The new deep well Weienstadt in the granite of the Fichtelgebirge

摘要

A 1835 m deep well, Weienstadt, has been drilled in the granitic rocks of the Fichtelgebirge. Numerous geophysical, hydraulic, and hydrochemical investigations were carried out in the deep well. We observed, that hydraulic conductivity was decreasing with increasing depth, while TDS (total dissolved solids) was increasing, and the water-type changed with depth. We compared our findings with other wells in the crystalline basement nearby. Comparing our results with the findings in the two deep wells Urach 3 and KTB (continental deep drilling) showed surprisingly similar hydraulic and hydrochemical results with the far away situated bore Urach 3 and totally different findings to the nearby located KTB.
