摘要

A boron-coated multi-wire proportional chamber (MWPC) neutron detector coupled with a delay line readout system has been investigated to possibly replace the 3 He neutron detector. MWPC worked on the gas flow mode with Ar/CO2(90%/10%) and its readout system was based on the time-to-digital converter. The detection efficiency for a neutron wavelength of 0.247nm was approximately 3.5%, and the spatial resolution was 5 mm. Other experimental results, such as gain and counting rate plateau, were also obtained.
