Trelleborg develops 'next-gen' EV seals

GERMANY: Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (TSS) has developed two new products, which it claims can increase the travelling range of electric vehicles (EVs). Called HiSpin PDR RT and HiSpin HS40, the seals are designed to operate at high velocity: addressing issues around effective sealing at high rotary speeds. Both products have been developed for the e-axle, which according to TSS e-mobility head Jan Zumbach is "a key limiting factor in EVs." The e-axle is a combined electric motor and gearbox that fit within the traditional engine space, he explained in an 18 Feb Trelleborg release.
