The world is changing rapidly and the speed of those changes is increasing exponentially.20-25 years ago the internet was nothing more than an experiment for early adopters;we got piles of letters and a few e-mails a week.Nowadays we get hundreds of e-mails and only a few letters a week.About two years ago we passed a silent milestone: more devices are connected to the internet than people...The internet is incorporated in our lives on so many levels: we communicate over the internet,we have internet-friends,we date for prospective partners over the internet,we do business over the internet.We use internet for leisure,for studying and for work.Still,the internet mainly lives in that small black box in your purse or pocket or perhaps on your laptop.At this moment only 1 % of the world we live in is connected to the internet.99% of the objects around us are offline and considered乭dumb乭.,can you imagine if this percentage would double?.,or would go to 20%? The impact would be huge...no,the impact WILL be huge! Internet of Things(or Internet of Everything as some call it)is a relatively new phenomenon in a fast changing world(a world where the biggest companies are tech-companies that mostly did not exist ten years ago).IoT might not even be the best title;it is confusing and sometimes scares people who had bad experiences with the internet.It would be better to talk about乭connected devices乭or even乭smart devices乭.IoT is new and considered a hype but乭connected devices乭is something we have been doing for a long time(and we are pretty good at-look at the two challenger deep-space robots we launched in 1976).
