The articles have noted how the number of audits, enforcement actions and lawsuits involving the misclassification of workers as "independent contractors" have soared and the issues of back wages, tax liabilities, retroactive exposure for employee benefits, unpaid unemployment insurance contributions, fines and penalties pose risks for employers.
