The Paris Climate Agreement

In December 2015, representatives from nearly 200 nations concluded negotiations and reached an agreement to address collectively climate change. While it remains to be seen exactly how the U.S. will achieve its target greenhouse gas reductions, the agreement has the potential to impact a number of U.S. industries and businesses (including ILMA members) both directly and indirectly. The overarching goal of the Paris Agreement as stated in Article 2, Section 1 is "holding the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2° C above pre-industrial levels." That section also includes aspirational language that seeks to limit the increase to below 1.5° C.
