摘要

Particle image velocimetry has been used to investigate flow field ahead of a blunt body in a supersonic flow when counterflow jet is introduced from the stagnation point of the body. The flow field clearly shows the formation of alternately forming recirculating regions and the dissipation of heat. The results are similar to those observed in Schlieren pictures but give a more detailed flow field definition that may be suitable in calibrating numerical studies using computational fluid mechanics.
