RINL registers 31 per cent jump in turnover in 2017-18

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd. (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, has registered a 31 per cent jump in turnover at over Rs. 16,500 crore (provisional) in 2017-18 over 2016-17, led by higher volumes of production and sales. RINL has posted an operating profit of Rs. 200 crore in FY 18, all of came in during March. The company had suffered a net loss of Rs. 1,604 crore in FY16 followed by Rs. 1,263 crore loss in FY17. The steel major had stabilized after completing the modernization and a capacity augmentation plan. RINL had spent Rs. 12,300 crore for expansions of 6.3 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) capacity and Rs. 4000 crore for modernizing its plants.
