US thermal coal exports set to fall further in 2019

US thermal coal producers will cut production in 2019 amid weakening export and domestic coal market fundamentals, ac- cording to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). US thermal coal exports are expected to drop to 46.3mn short tons (42mn metric tonnes) in 2019 from 49.1mn t last year, the EIA forecasts. The 2019 forecast has been revised down from a previously expected 42.3mn t.
