Indian private-sector metals producer Hindalco plans to build a 3mn t/yr alumina plant at Rayagada in the eastern state of Odisha, more than doubling the frm’s overall alumina refning capacity to 5.8mn t/yr. Hindalco would source the 9.3mn t/yr of bauxite required for the project from its Kodingamali mine. It would also re- quire 1.4mn t/yr of coal, which it plans to source through coal linkages, e-auctions and imports.
