Turkish utility switches to coke from coal

Turkey’s 350MW Izdemir power plant has switched to burn- ing domestically produced petroleum coke and lignite from imported coal. The plant secured a six-month coke supply deal for 25,000t/month of high-sulphur coke with nearby Azeri state- owned Socar’s 200,000 b/d Star refnery efective from this month, three market sources said.
