US House Democrats push for carbon market

A group of Democrats in the US House of Representatives is pushing a suite of policy actions that would put the country on a path to carbon neutrality by the midcentury mark. The New Democrat Coalition, a caucus in the US House with 103 members, on 7 August called for the US to reach net- zero emissions by 2050 at the latest. In its policy outline, the group argues that climate change requires “global action and American leadership”, using pro-market policy to tamp down greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
