The China Electricity Council (CEC) has called on customs au- thorities to accelerate the clearance of imported coal cargoes to cope with expected robust coal demand at coastal utilities. Customs authorities should clear imported coal cargoes bought by coastal utilities at a faster speed to “utilise import- ed coal as a supplement (to domestic supply),” the infuential industry organisation said. Imported coal is critical in meet- ing coastal demand, as well as stabilising coal prices, the CEC said.
