US aluminium output projected to rise 60pc

Century Aluminum forecasts US primary aluminium production will rise by 60pc this year from 2017 levels on the back of the Section 232 metals tarifs imposed by the Trump administra- tion. “We remain confdent that the administration will con- tinue to reinforce its consistent objective of supporting the restart of US primary aluminium capacity and the long-term competitiveness of the industry,” chief executive Michael Bless said, attributing the Trump administration tarifs to increased smelter investment.
