Indonesia sees room for coal export growth

Indonesia’s energy and mineral resources ministry forecasts coal exports to expand by 2pc year on year in 2018, on expec- tations of frmer Asia-Pacifc demand and stable pricing. With this announcement the ministry has further distanced itself from its 2015-19 medium-term development plan, which forecast output falling to 409mn t in 2018 and established a production cap of 400mn t from 2019 to prevent market satu- ration and secure the long-term supply of coal.
