Cosmo debuts Yokkaichi coke-fred power unit

Japan’s Cosmo Energy has commissioned a 200MW petroleum coke power generation unit at Yokkaichi in Mie prefecture after converting the plant from using residue oil. Cosmo in 2016 set up Yokkaichi Kasumi Power, a 61pc- owned power joint venture to own and operate the 200MW power generation unit for independent power producer operations. State-owned Development Bank of Japan holds the remaining 39pc.
