Nippon Steel, Glencore settle coking coal price

Japan’s Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal (NSSMC) and Switzerland-based trading and mining firm Glencore have agreed fourth-quarter semi-soft coking coal contract prices at $126/t fob Australia. The settlement is an increase from the third-quarter contract price at $120/t, but is at the lower end of the $125-130/t range that Japanese steelmakers were prepared to pay for the October-December contract period.
