India’s RIL, Essar cut petroleum coke prices

India’s largest private-sector petroleum coke producers Reliance Industries (RIL) and Essar Oil have reduced their December sales prices following a decline in seaborne prices. RIL reduced its basic price for December before taxes and duties by around 455 rupees/t ($7.06/t) from November to Rs7,645/t. The company produces around 6.5mn-6.6mn t/yr of petroleum coke, about half of India’s total output. Essar, which typically follows RIL’s lead, reduced its basic price by the same amount to Rs7,635/t, market participants said.
