Indonesia’s coal exports hit record high in March

Indonesian coal exports in March increased by 10pc from a year earlier to a record high of 41.98mn t, as strong demand for imported coal from India helped ofset a decline in Chinese receipts during the month. Indonesia’s March exports were up by 23pc from 34.24mn t in February, as Chinese buyers returned to the market after the lunar new year holiday. They were also up from a high of 40.41mn t in October 2018, data from state statistics agency BPS show.
